Monday

It was a looooong weekend. Raul left last Tuesday for 2 weeks! He's working at Superbowl, which is exciting and fun. However, being a single mom is crazy.  Herme has been sick the last two weeks so she hasn't been able to help out. I think the rooster got her sick, but what do I know.  Last week went by so fast, and I was just so tired; those little men of mine run circles around me. My days are filled with, "no" "don't do that" "say please" say thank you" "say you're sorry"...whew.  Luckily, I found an awesome babysitter who has been my lifesaver the past two weekends. She has come by for a couple of hours to watch the kids while I run errands. It felt good to get out by myself; a much needed break to refocus.

Diet: take 2
My friend and I joined weight watchers on Saturday. We decided to really do this weight loss thing. So far, so good and we're really motivating each other, so that's awesome.

Ok, off to work - yay I get to file, shred, and pack boxes.  Gotta work harder on finding another job.

Happy Monday

Walking & Roosters

I never have time to work out with a full time job and two kids, yup that's my excuse. If you know me at work I never walk anywhere.  There's a shopping center next to our building that's a 5 minute walk but I would always drive because I never wanted to walk.

Well, I've changed my tune since i've gained 20 lbs in the last two years and since starving myself isn't working I have started walking on my breaks at work and I even walked down to baja fresh today which is pretty far.  I walked 26 minutes there and back from Baja Fresh and according to livestrong.com I burned 195 calories. Not sure how accurate that is, but i'll take it. I might even step it up a bit and walk on my lunch breaks from now on. There are a lot of hills and huge blocks to walk, so I might put myself up to the challenge next week.

On deck this weekend for me and the boys: walking! Taking my friend Brenda's advice and going on walks. Although i'm secretly hoping that grandma takes Andrew for the weekend.

OH and in grandma news last Sunday she called and said she bought Andrew a rooster, not another fake one, but a REAL ROOSTER! I guess they were walking around the neighborhood and Herme decided to buy a rooster from the neighbor. Mind you she lives in a condo with 4 cats and 3 birds that occupy the balcony.

We picked up Andrew and she showed us the lovely livestock, holding right in front of Andrew's face. I just had visions of it pecking him. Also, my mind was racing thinking, "does this animal have a disease?"  Well, we didn't take the bird home as I don't think our neighbors would appreciate being woken up at 4 am and we just didn't want it. She told us the other day that she gave it back to the neighbor.  Thank god.

Happy Friday

Diet day 3

The diet is still going good. I'm down 1lb in 3 days, not bad. I really like counting my calories. I can still eat pretty much what I like, but in moderation. Today I walked around the block and work, so that was a nice mini-workout.

The husband is traveling until next Monday, so this weekend will be the real test because my anxiety level increases when he is gone and I will reach for anything that has chocolate on it. I will try to reach for a Atkins bar instead.

The kids were actually really good last night. They played nice in Andrew's room while I cooked dinner. It was nice not to play referee for one night. We'll see how tonight goes.

Better look busy at work. Happy Thursday.

Diet day 1

I signed up to track my calorie intake on livestrong.com my daily plate. I like this. I'm a visual person, so it's good for me to see what my calorie intake should be. I like being able to see what calories, carbs, sugars, etc. i've consume for the day. Also, this website is very user friendly. I started logging in everything I eat or drink and boy do those calories add up. My calorie goal for the day is 1432 and that really isn't a lot when you eat junk food like me, soooo i'm switchin' it up.

Breakfast: oatmeal with blueberries oh and I had my ice blended, but with half powder. baby steps.

Lunch: my goal will be a salad with lots of protein.

Dinner: fish and veggies.

Todays weight: 151.6 There you have it. I'm putting it out there for the whole world to see. I want to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 135.

It's Time

Adam will be 3 in September, T.H.R.E.E. and I still haven't lost the baby weight from when I had him or Andrew who will be 5 in April. This is it, the time, I need to loose this weight before I'm 40. HA, I give myself 3 years.

I'm going to start keeping a food journal, I am going to try no I will avoid my ice blendeds, I will exercise 3 times a week and I will make healthy eating choices! I just want to loose 15lbs, that's it.

Wish me luck!

Changes

I miss my co-workers! We had a big lay-off Tuesday at work. It was a shock to a lot of people and I still can't believe it. I still wait for Heather to come in every morning and say "good morning."  I'm so lost at work now. I used to be at the top working for the CEO, now i'm shredding documents in the file room. I know, i'm lucky to have a job and I am. I've been at my job for 8 years now. It's so sad to see all the people I started with, gone.

My co-worker Heather and I started on the same day 9/30/02, have the same name (obviously) both have unusual middle names that start with "B" and both have a birthday in January. I love it!

I don't do well with change, so going from the CEO's assistant for 7 years to an assistant to other executives was hard and it took a good year for me to accept and transition. Now, my whole Marketing crew is gone and i'm in limbo between two other departments. I've been told to keep busy because who knows what will happen in 3 months. I hope I find something soon.

Enough of that, it's time to move forward and wish my co-workers the best and I hope we all find a job that we love.

Was it the wine or my old age?

Last night was a good night with the kids. Andrew had a great day at school so I bought him his favorite: hamburgers and french fries from Wendys. We skyped with dad, and said our good nights. I thought, "bedtime will be a breeze and I can watch Glee season 1 in bed" hmmm, so I thought.

I was getting all comfortable in bed when I hear, "mommy my stomach hurts." Then, "mommy i'm too hot." Then I hear little foot steps heading towards my room.  Andrew and I had a 20 minute conversation on me trying to persuade him to get back in bed. Finally I got up and marched him back to his room. I took a blanket off his bed, and his sheet as he said he didn't want it. ok. whatever.

I went back to bed and then I hear, "mommy I don't like my bed" "mommy I dont' like my room." I'm not sure if it was the glass of wine I drank or old age but I yelled from my bed, "go sleep on the sofa then."  Normally, I would go into his room and battle it out with him, but I sat this battle out.

So, he went to the sofa, I put a blanket on him and he feel asleep.  This morning I woke up and he was sleeping on the couch and now i'm praying this is not going to turn into a habit.  I will make sure his bed is very comfortable tonight.

37

Yes people  I turned 37 yesterday. Since my birthday is right after Christmas and New Years, it always just sneaks up on me.  It was a pleasant birthday though.  I received another coffee bean card - yay from my friend Heather (who also called me old) but I will forgive her since she did give me something I love!

A friend of mine reminded me that I met her 30 years ago when I was just 7! Where did all these years go? I don't know why i'm in amazement because 40 is knocking at my door and I will be speechless when that comes.

Raul left on a trip yesterday and will be back on Saturday. I thought for my birthday he would at least get the baby ready for me. I almost thought he wasn't gonna come through, but what? He actually got up and got Adam ready for me.
Happy Birthday to me!

My neighbor brought me dinner last night and that was a fun treat. After Susan left, it was time for me to be a single mom. I try so darn hard not to loose my patience, but oy! These little boys run circles around me. I feel like Super nanny is going to walk in at any moment and scold me.  Then, when they're sleeping I look at their sweet faces and think, "how can I  get mad at these little boys?"

I'm sure i'll find a reason tonight.
