8 days

My husband left today

For 8 days

 How will I survive?

I can do this, I've done it before,

I don't know why I get so anxious.

I'm preparing myself for tantrums,

tears, fights, crying,

 yelling and secreaming.

However, me and the boys do have fun.

I will make sure there are smiles,

lots of laughs, and big hugs

I need to find some activities for the weekend.

The weekends are the toughest; trying to keep

two little ones occupied.

Friday, I've been waiting for you...

It's Friday! I'm so happy. It's been a busy week with the kids: tantrums, tears, diapers, consitpation, crying - oh my! Tonight after the kids go to bed, my neighbor is coming over and we're watching New Moon while the husbands play poker.

Tomorrow we're taking the kids to National Train Day at union station. I think it will be fun as Andrew loves trains. Then, Sunday is Mother's Day!  A well deserved day for us hard-working mom's out there. This is the toughest job ever! For example, Andrew woke up this morning in an awful, cranky mood.  He wanted to watch a 30 second commerical about trains (naturally) over and over. Eating breakfast and getting dressed wasn't on Andrew's agenda, so a full on meltdown insued. After about 5 minutes of the meltdown, Raul had to take Andrew to his room for "a talk." That calmed Andrew down and we got dressed, finished breakfast, and then out the door!

Also, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week! The teachers & staff at Andrew's school are awesome! I really love the school, the teachers are so patient and understanding, and the director is fantastic.  I'm so glad I found this gem of a school hidden in West Hills.

Bathroom Words

Lately Andrew has been singing the tune of "I love poop I love poop." I'm assuming this is a boy/kid thing. While my husband and I laughed at it at first, it was our 2 hour drive to Disneyland hearing this over and over that we knew ... we might have a little problem. We then put our laughter aside and told Andrew that we shouldn't say those words because it's not good manners. 

We thought the poop song had gone away, but when I picked up Andrew at school last Thursday his teacher said "he's doing great in class, buuuuuuuuut he keeps talking about bathroom words." Awesome. So, that weekend was reminding Andrew that we don't say those bathroom words at school or at home.

Now Andrew is doing much better, he only said poop once in class on Monday.  Last night Raul said "we have to change adams poopy diaper" Andrew corrected him and told him we don't say poop dada. Ah, all the hard work, constant reminding, and repitition works!

Things to do with the kids

I'm on a mission to find activities to do with the kids during the summer and on the weekends.

Having boys it's only natural that they love trains! Thomas is a staple in our home. 

On Saturday, May 8th it's National Train Day and we're taking the kids to union station because there's going to be a celebration. I'm really looking forward to this; I think the kids will be so excited.

I survived.

This was the big birthday weekend i've been planning and everything turned out wonderful. My birthday boy turned 4 and had a fantastic time. Disneyland was fun, I haven't been there in years. Andrew did well in the morning but started to meltdown towards the end of the day, but we expected that. He got scared on a few rides and wouldn't go on anymore, so we walked around and ate!

Sunday with birthday party time. We had a small group come over for a bbq, cake and ice cream.  Andrew loved playing with his cousins and friends on the new swingset.  Auntie Susan won the spotlight for getting Andrew a car that spun around with lights. That was the first present he opened and then nothing else mattered, for the moment anyways...he did enjoy all of his gifts.

We're exhausted, but it was all worth it.

A little lunch time blog

It's a gloomy, cold day in Calabasas. I kind of like the cold right now, but I hope it's sunny on Saturday when we trek to Disneyland. I swear, I don't know who's more excited me or Andrew.

I've made a decision that I didn't think I would ever make, no not giving up my ice blendeds, but -- going back to school. I already have my AA degree and I think I'm going to get a degree in Organizational Leadership. I never thought I would go back to school, but recently I got to thinking that I need to do it. Not just for me, but for my kids too. I want to have my degree before i'm 40. Holy Moly!! 40! 

I'm attending the Adult Program at Cal Lutheran University. It's an accelrated program, so I will go to class once a week and complete a class every 11 weeks. It's going to be a lot of work, especially with a full-time job and two little ones.

Wish me luck on my adventure.

Alright, back to work I go.
